Melobesia mediocris
Melobesia mediocris is a crustose
coralline alga that most often occurs as an epiphyte on surfgrass in
California. It appears as small pink dots or speckles that form on the
thin blades of surfgrass. This
picture was taken on the surfgrass beds
at Fort Point, San Francisco Bay.
