Corvus corax

This Common Raven was photographed by Luis A. Solorzano along
Ocean Beach in San Francisco as the raven was foraging.  The Common Raven is North America's largest songbird, up to 27" long.  This jet-black, thick-billed scavenger ranges from the deserts of Mexico to the Alaskan tundra.  It frequently enters city backyards in the winter, feeding on dog food and other human-provided food.

This raven was photographed by Darrel Lee in a snow bank demonstrating the different habitats occupied by this bird.
