Genus Ammotrechula Roewer 1934

Ammotrechula Roewer, 1934: 600-601; Muma, 1970a: 52; Muma, 1976: 27; Muma, 1989: 46; Armas, 1993: 49; Harvey, 2001a: 196-198.

Diagnosis:  Roewer (1934) characterized the genus as follows:

"Ammotrechinae, deren 2. und 3. Tarsus ventral mit jeweils 1.2.2.2.1 Dornen und deren 4. Tarsus ventral mit 2.2/2/2.2 Dornen bewehrt ist (Abb. 335, e, i); Cheliceren am unbeweglichen Finger mit 2 Vorderzhen vor dem Zwischenzahn und am beweglichen Finger mit 1 medialen Wangenzahn neben dem Hauptzahn (Abb. 339, c, d und 340, c)."

[Ammotrechinae whose 2nd and 3 Tarsus each bear 1.2.2.2.1 ventral spines and whose 4th tarsus bears 2.2/2/2.2 ventral spines (Fig. 335, e, i);  Immovable finger of chelicerae with 2 anterior teeth in front of the median tooth and movable finger with 1 medial cheek tooth next to the main tooth (Fig. 339, c, d and 340, c).]

Type species: Cleobis saltatrix Simon, 1879a, by original designation.

Distribution: United States, Mexico, Central America, and northern South America.
