Ammotrechella
Roewer, 1934: 594; Muma, 1951: 125; Muma, 1970a: 45; Muma and Nazario,
1971: 506; Muma, 1976: 25; Maury, 1982a: 130; Muma, 1987: 17; Armas,
2004b: 32; Armas and Teruel, 2005: 152.
Ammotrechona Roewer, 1934: 595; Muma, 1970a: 48; Muma, 1976: 26 (synonymized
by Armas, 2004b: 60).
Diagnosis: Roewer
(1934) characterized the genus as follows:
"Ammotrechinae,
deren 2. und 3. Tarsus
[Ammotrechinae
whose 2nd and 3 Tarsus each bear 1.2.2.1 ventral spines and whose 4th
tarsus bears 2.2/2/2 ventral spines (Fig. 335, b, g).
Immovable finger of chelicerae with 2 anterior teeth in front of the
median tooth and movable finger with 1 medial cheek tooth next to the
main tooth (Fig. 337, b etc).]
In the same publication, Roewer (1934)
diagnosed the genus Ammotrechona, later regarded as a synonym of
Ammotrechella by Armas (2004), as follows:
"Ammotrechinae,
[Ammotrechinae
whose 2nd and 3 Tarsus each bear 1.2.2.2 ventral spines and whose 4th
tarsus bears 2.2/2/2 ventral spines (Fig. 335, c, g). Immovable finger of chelicerae with 2 anterior teeth in front of the
median tooth and movable finger with 1 medial cheek tooth next to the
main tooth (Fig. 337, c ).]

Muma (1986) stated the
following about Ammotrechella:
Roewer's (1934)
leg, tarsal, spine-like, setal formulae for this genus are 1,2,2,1 for
legs 2 and 3 and 2,2-2-2 for leg 4. These species have a mesal
tooth on the movable cheliceral finger and 2 primary teeth distad of the
principal tooth of the fixed cheliceral finger. Males of this
genus often carry remnants of the female dorsal carina on the fixed
cheliceral finger with very little additional modification.
